Whew. What a week, amirite? I needed a little extra coffee to survive. Although our family’s week was unremarkable, I feel exhausted from trying to process the tragic events in Boston and West. I had a few more posts lined up for the week but it just seemed right to keep it quiet over here. It might also be the fact that I’m almost 36 weeks pregnant and carrying a five-pound human around. Speaking of which:
(Bad lighting, I know! But it’s the only full length mirror in the house and Daniel wasn’t home to take a photo.)
Pregnancy Update:
35.5 weeks! Getting close! Baby Gwen and I are both doing great. I’m getting tired and trying to put my feet up and stay hydrated because the Braxton-Hicks are getting intense! I had them often during my last pregnancy but not this frequent, strong, and regular. Stay inside for a couple more weeks, OK baby girl? I don’t think the fact that a new little person is joining our family in the next month has hit me. I think I’m supposed to pre-register at the hospital and pack some sort of bag or something? Eek!
Coming Up in the Liturgical Year: The Feast of St. George! Do you have any plans to celebrate? St. George is Benjamin’s favorite saint and we love reading this picture book by Margaret Hodges: St. George and the Dragon.
On the Homestead:
Our chickens are laying the prettiest eggs I ever saw! It’s like having Easter eggs for breakfast every day. So glad that we have enough layers again to have plenty of eggs from our hens and not buy them at the store anymore.
The Quotable Lucy (18 months):
“I wove wu, Daddy.” CUTE ATTACK!
The Quotable Benjamin (4 Years):
All packed to go on a little trip with his Grandaddy! He was so excited about having “luggage” and the prospect of stopping at Cracker Barrel.
“They’ve probably been running with pencils, with the pokey-side up.” – (On why pirates wear eye patches.)

Lucy loves giving big brother butterfly kisses. I am so excited to introduce these two little loves to their baby sister! Prepare for more toddler snuggles than you could ever want, Baby Gwen!
Stay tuned for more wonderful guest posts in the Women Speak on NFP series next week! And due to popular demand, a post on Marquette method and NFP while nursing are in the works as well!
Hope your weekend is beautiful!

Your children are ridiculously cute. But you knew that, right?
I love that blog on vaginal birth of triplets! Wow!
Haley says
They are sweetie pies! I thought that birth story was so amazing. It’s hard for me to imagine birthing twins but TRIPLETS?! 🙂
Rosie says
AND she’s nursing all 3! She’s one that I think of when things are rough with my twins – if she can take care of triplets, my twins should be a breeze!
Haley says
You deserve a medal, too! Nursing twins is amazing!
Brittany says
You are doing better than me. I haven’t pre registered or packed (much) and I do believe this little one will be coming in the next few days! Better get moving I guess!
Haley says
When’s your due date, Brittany? You’re getting close! We can pack during the early labor, right? ; )
Brittany says
May 5th, but since Titus came in such a rush, once I dilate to three or so, we are going to break my water. Beats having him at home alone with the kids all watching 🙂 going to the midwife tomorrow, and was already at a 2 Wednesday, so I suspect tomorrow might be the day, and if not, definitely this week sometime. And yes, I have packed mid labor once, and also had no bags once (like I said, Titus came really fast!) so it is totally fine:)

Thanks for the link share!
That instagram of your littles is just too much! I love moments like that. Also, so jealous of your lovely eggs! One day, I hope we’ll have some, too. =) Enjoy your weekend!

Sadly, I’m teaching ballet til late on Tuesday so I’m not sure our Feast of St. George will be very exciting 🙁

What a week indeed! I love your “This Week’s Miscellany” updates. Those Braxton Hicks contractions seem to get more and more intense with each pregnancy. Hope you’ve been able to sleep ok. How ADORABLE is the picture of Lucy giving butterfly kisses?! Too stinkin’ cute! Gotta love sibling love. I’ve been sharing your NFP series on FB, and I’m really looking forward to hearing about NFP while nursing. Keep it up, girl!
Haley says
As long as I can keep the acid reflux at bay, I’m sleeping pretty well and I’m so grateful!
Sibling love is the sweetest thing. I wasn’t prepared for how precious it would be! Thanks for sharing the NFP series! I can’t wait to learn more about practicing it post-partum/nursing, too.

St. George is alllllll over the whole of Europe! We used to see statues of him everywhere we went and there was one in our hometown. At first I could never remember if it was Gregory or George, but I found a way by singing: George George George and the dragon… to the tune of George of the jungle. Maybe Benjamin would like that 🙂
Haley says
B would LOVE that 🙂
Patty says
Wow, that picture of the eggs, at first i thought they were left over Easter eggs!
SUCH a sweet picture of your two littles:)
Haley says
Aren’t those eggs neat! I pinch myself every time we gather them because they are just sooo pretty!
Deirdre says
Haley, I know elsewhere on here you’ve stated that you would never post a picture of yourself at full-term… but you are looking great!
I am very envious of your home-grown eggs!
Haley says
Aw, thanks, Deirdre! I haven’t gained my usual 60 lbs during pregnancy so that might have something to do with the fact that I’m still posting pics 🙂 I might make it to 40 weeks only gaining 40 lbs, which for me, is awesome, haha.
Michelle M. says
You look beautiful! Such a perfectly round baby belly! I hope the next few weeks go well for you.
Your children are beautiful 🙂
Haley says
Aww, thank you Michelle! I’m starting to feel ginormous and getting to that physically miserable stage when labor begins to sound like a whole lot of fun, haha. Thanks for the well wishes!
