Just popping in on this first day of Advent to let you know some exciting news! After receiving many, many requests for a print version of our book Feast! (lots of you wanted to give a print version as Christmas gifts!) I spent the week asking around and staying up way too late working on making it happen for you. And TA DA! You can order a print copy you can hold in your hand with real pages and … [Read more...]
This Week’s Miscellany: Vol. 66 (and giveaway winner)
Call me the Craigslist Queen, y'all, because we got the find of the century! Actually I just got really lucky, because on the day I decided the kiddos really need a backyard swing set, someone posted this bad boy and with the help of all our male extended family members and a Uhaul, we transported it to our house. Now we just need to set up the swing part. In the meantime, Lucy is totally … [Read more...]
Sailor Hats and Where You Can Find Me Today
Happy Monday, dear ones. We're keeping busy with a new project that I can't wait to tell you about later this week. In the meantime, you can find the first part of my Catholicism: Empowering Women series from a few months ago posted over at Catholic Exchange this morning! And here's an adorable picture of Lucy all dressed up for my precious goddaughter's baptism yesterday to tide you … [Read more...]
Natural Induction Techniques
Things have been super busy over here, and I can't wait to tell you why (no, I'm not pregnant!). So it's been quiet this week at Carrots. But you can find me over at Mama and Baby Love sharing about 7 Natural Ways to Avoid an Induction. Check it out and tell me if there's anything to add to the list in the comments! And wow! I had a massive belly at the very end of my last pregnancy. And I … [Read more...]
This Week’s Miscellany: (Pig Edition) Vol. 63
On the Homestead: Oh ho ho, do I have a story for you! The other night after the kids went to bed, Daniel and I watched a crime/detective show full of suspense and creepiness. Just as it was over, there was a knock at the door (around 9:30pm) and I could see it was a car we didn't recognize. Because I'm generally a paranoid weirdo and I had just been terrified by the crime show, my first … [Read more...]
Rethinking the Pill
You can find me over at Mama and Baby Love today chatting about why I quit the Pill and discussing Natural Family Planning from a health/wellness perspective: Do you think twice about buying non-organic meat from animals injected with hormones? I do. We even raise and slaughter our own chickens to be sure of what we’re consuming. Concerns about the hormones in non-organic meat are widespread. But … [Read more...]
This Week’s Reality (See What I Did There?)
Wondering why the silence over here this week? Well, the week's not going great. 3 out of 5 of us have been hit by a horrible stomach bug, all the dehydration made my milk supply drop, the laundry situation is dire, I had to cancel the first dentist appointment I scheduled in 3ish years (I know, I know, all my teeth are going to fall out!) as well as get togethers with an out-of-town friend and … [Read more...]
Welcome, Gwen!
I've got someone pretty special to introduce you to. Meet our precious Gwen Stellamaris Stewart! Born after 13 hours of active labor at 7:41am on May 30, our little lass weighed 7lbs 4oz. She has grey eyes and plenty of jet black hair. She is healthy and sweet and we are so grateful for a safe delivery. Labor was very hard and exhausting and my recovery has been much slower than with Lucy, so … [Read more...]
Sharing About Almost Becoming “The Smug Mom” and Hello Due Date!
Today you can find me over at Mama and Baby Love sharing about how I almost became "The Smug Mom." In other news, it's Baby Gwen's due date (c'mon little Carrot!) and my sweet, sweet, saintly mother just picked up the other two kids so that I can TAKE A NAP. Heavenly, no?! I feel so sleepy that I don't even WANT to go into labor because I don't have the energy. Thank you, Mom! I'm sure I'm … [Read more...]
A Heavy Heart
I had another great NFP guest post lined up for today, but I have a heavy heart after the events of the week. I think it's appropriate to have a quiet day on the blog with requests for prayer for the victims of the tragedies. My husband is a marathoner, ultra-marathoner, and triathlete and if I weren't so close to my due date, it's very likely he or both of us would have been at the Boston … [Read more...]
