Great appointment with my midwife on Wednesday! Lucy seems to already be head down in the right position which is wonderful and her heartbeat sounds beautifully strong. I'm staying healthy as well and I can't believe that we will be meeting her in 6ish weeks! The only negative news is that I tested positive for Group B strep and so will need to show up to the hospital earlier than I had hoped to … [Read more...]
Life Update: Housemates, Date Nights, Friends, and a Question
Well, we found them: the world's greatest housemates. Our dear friends, Brian and Lois, moved into our third bedroom/library a couple of weeks ago and will be with us as they raise support for doing long-term missions in Nepal. It is so fun to have them around to share meals with and they could not be more helpful and great. This is our fourth endeavor into communal living and we feel like we are … [Read more...]
Triumphs!
Triumph 1: This is Little Bear's 3rd day of wearing big boy undies and having NO ACCIDENTS. Not one. What a little guy. Does that mean he's potty trained? When do we celebrate? Triumph 2: I successfully taught a 45 minute ballet/movement class to SEVENTEEN 3 and 4-year olds. 17! Did you hear that? SEVENTEEN?! Since I taught a 3 and 4-year-old class last year of only four little babies that … [Read more...]
Benjamin at the Fire Station and Potty Training Update
Benjamin is getting to be such a giant and has been (for the most part) super sweet this week. He has been going through a defiant stage, constantly pushing the boundaries and trying to be the boss. But this week he has been extra precious. Yesterday I took him on a tour of the Fire Station. He about lost his little two-year-old mind. Sorry for the bad quality iPhone pics. I … [Read more...]
Pregnancy Update: Week 30
I can't believe that I'm 3/4 done with this pregnancy (if I carry until 40 weeks, that is ). I still feel pretty great, although I start to lose energy by around 8 or 8:30pm. I think the prenatal yoga is helping to keep my lower back from hurting too much as I carry this growing little girl around. All good news from our midwife last week: no gestational diabetes, just need some more iron so … [Read more...]
My Unplanned Pregnancy, Or Why We Stopped Using Birth Control—For Good
Right now the result of our unplanned pregnancy is snoozing in his beloved “big boy bed.” As I check on him and watch his chest rise and fall, it hits me once again: here he is, the best gift of my life. My unplanned son and I spent the morning at the pool and I watched him shriek with joy as he went down the water slide, splashed in the water, and giggled after accidentally ducking his head under … [Read more...]
29 Week Update
Benjamin woke up at 5am after having a bad dream and even though my sweet husband jumped up to console him so I could rest, I've been wide awake ever since: thank you, third trimester insomnia. Yes, I'm in the third trimester already. Can you believe it? I had a little bit of a heart attack the other day when I realized that if Baby Girl comes a week early like her big brother, I'm only 10 … [Read more...]
A Few Things…
I know Trinity Sunday was almost three weeks ago but I finally posted the recipe for the Blueberry Pie I made for the occasion. Super easy, super delicious. Check out the post here. In other news, due to my best friend Eleanor's urging, I started a Pinterest. You can check it out here. It is taking over my life. Help. And here's a somewhat recent pregnancy pic (from three weeks ago?). … [Read more...]
Widgets and Summer Fun
I added some widgets to my sidebar and now I feel super fancy. This little guy and I are having the BEST summer We try to fill our early mornings with outside fun before it gets too miserably hot: the park, the pool, playing with trucks on the back porch. Before naptime or just after we go to the Brogan Museum of Arts and Sciences to see giant animatronic bugs, cool sciency children's … [Read more...]
St. Anthony’s Pasta
At long last, I finally posted a new recipe on Feast! And hey, I noted how to make it Gluten-Free and it includes these delicious amazing tomatoes from Daniel's garden: … [Read more...]
