With a new baby on the way we're facing the vaccine dilemma again. I didn't feel informed about the vaccine controversy when Benjamin was born and so just went with our pediatrician recommendations. Benjamin is healthy and happy even with oodles of vaccinations but he did struggle with reflux as an infant and had eczema. Possibly (probably?) completely unrelated to vaccinations. But I just want to … [Read more...]
Back!
We sure missed Daddy while he was on the men's retreat this weekend. So glad he's back and had a great time! This picture is grainy and from forever ago but I love the sweet smiles my boys have and the way Benjamin is looking adoringly at his Daddy. … [Read more...]
Spring! and My New Anti-Laundry Plan
Now that the weather is lovely and warm, my new Anti-Laundry Accumulation Plan is to not put clothes on Benjamin unless it's absolutely necessary. This little boy has been just so sweet lately. Last month he was rather obstinate and ornery, I think partly due to my low energy because of the first trimester and the nausea that kept us cooped up inside. I'm still sleepy and pukey but we've been … [Read more...]
Some Photos and Some Griping
I'm an optimist. I get it from my Dad. We both always assume that the best case scenario is the inevitable. If things are bad, positive change is just around the corner. Whatever project we are working on will surely take the minimum amount of time...what could go wrong? This is often a helpful trait but it goes hand-in-hand with frequent disappointment when things don't turn out as easy as … [Read more...]
March Reads
I woke up today feeling much better after a couple days of being really down and out with a cold. And today, my morning sickness is so much better. My last pregnancy was honestly pretty miserable and the daily vomiting until month 6 was almost unbearable. I've been very queasy most of the past 6 weeks but experienced a day here and there of relief and it seems to be easing now. Thank you to those … [Read more...]
Baby Jonah and a Delicious Friday Night
This is Baby Jonah and his Mama, Tryna. They accompanied Benjamin and I to the Museum of Florida History downtown. Between the fully reconstructed Mastadon bones, animatronic giant armadillo, and steamboat exhibit, Benjamin had plenty to delight and amaze him. Benjamin is still talking about the "Museum of Flo-rida HIStory!" We will need to go again. Last night, my brother and our friends, … [Read more...]
Happy Second Birthday, Benjamin!
Dear Benjamin, When we tucked you in tonight you were a one-year-old, but in the morning you will be TWO. You have changed so much in the past year. Remember last year when you were just learning to walk and Daddy got you bundled up to play in the snow? You were such a little baby! Now you use a fork and spoon, sleep in a big boy bed, have a giant vocabulary, carry on hilarious … [Read more...]
New Skills
I want to acquire some new skills. Primarily, sewing. I found an e-course on quilting that seems pretty great on Rachel Denbow's blog. I would love to make Benjamin a quilt for his bed. And I want to turn my wedding dress into a christening gown for future babies. Now that I can successfully knit a scarf I need some new ideas of what to knit...and probably some assistance. Knitters, where do … [Read more...]
February Reads
Due to Katherine and Sonya's recommendations I borrowed Kathryn Stockett's The Help from the library. I really enjoyed it. Startling to realize that how recently the Civil Rights Movement occurred. I'm also still reading Kristin Lavransdatter. It's so good. Please read it. Benjamin is currently loving this one: He calls it "Caps" and loves to make the Monkey sound and shake his … [Read more...]
A Busy St. Brigid’s Day
Benjamin and I started out St. Brigid's Day by coloring this picture I found here, at Waltzing Matilda. This Catholic blogger, Charlotte, makes these coloring pages for all sorts of saints and holy days. This is actually the second one we made. He sent the first one with Daddy so he could look at it at work. After the Jr. Museum with a new friend and her little boy, Benjamin fell asleep in the … [Read more...]
