I’m always trying to figure out how to make it easier for families to observe the Christian Year because we felt so overwhelmed when we first started that journey (which is why we wrote the book we wish we had then). I thought it might be helpful for our family to have resources compiled for the month ahead so that we can plan in advance which special saints days we want to observe and I hope having them all in one place is helpful to you, too!
And I pinned all of the following resources on a March Liturgical Year board on pinterest for your convenience!
And for any lenten ideas, just check out last month’s at a glance post.
As always, remember not to get overwhelmed. You don’t have to observe every saints day! (We certainly don’t at our house.) The liturgical year is a gift. It shouldn’t feel like a burden!

“What to do for Lent” has been wearing down my heart. I think after work I’m gonna sit down and have a good pray while reading through these ideas. Thank you!

Oh my gosh!! Love all these ideas.. Feeling overwhelmed at the moment, but I am going to try and pick a few little things. Like getting rocks out of my yard and putting them on the table and picking a person or family or cause to pray for every night of lent at the table! But the one thing we to BIG in our house: St. Patrick’s Day, because we are super Irish!
Haley says
Love those ideas!

Hi! Big fan of the monthly brief for the liturgical year as they are so helpful. I did notice that you have St. Joseph’s feast day on March 20th but I am under the impression it is on March 19th. Could you confirm? Not sure if I missed something and have been celebrating it all these years on the wrong day! Oy!
Thanks so much!
Haley says
I doublechecked on the USSCB calendar! My only guess is that it was moved from Sunday so there would be another solemnity during Lent? Not sure why it was moved to Monday!
Annette says
Thanks for your response. 🙂

FYI: Some dioceses have given dispensations for St. Patrick’s Day– so some readers may be ok to eat their stews and corned beef! https://www.google.com/amp/www.catholicnewsagency.com/amp/news/where-its-ok-to-eat-corned-beef-on-st-patricks-day-this-lent-47479/
