Welcome to Carrots! I'm so glad you're here. This is where I share thoughts on liturgical living, faith, parenting, culture, and an extra dose of Jane Austen. You can sign up for my email newsletter here to stay in touch, or look me up on Instagram!
We’re having a ball with family and friends in our hometown of Tallahassee, FL celebrating the holidays, but I wanted to stop in and give you a gift: a Christmas playlist I made!
This year’s Christmas playlist is pretty eclectic. I included some classic pop like Mariah Carey and then some classic classics like Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby. And then I added a lot of haunting, beautiful more recent renditions of my favorite Christmas carols and hymns, some non-religious holiday stuff, and then some goofier songs at the end. I hope you enjoy it!
(You might have to click over to the actual site to access the Spotify playlist if you’re reading on a feed reader.)
- What Child Is This?: Rebecca Roubion (Haunting and beautiful version of one of my favorite Christmas carols.)
- Home for the Holidays: Emmy the Great and Tim Wheeler (This is so peppy and fun and makes me think of meeting up with old friends after being away at college.)
- White Christmas: Bing Crosby (Does it get any more classic than this?!)
- O Come O Come Emmanuel: The Civil Wars (Technically an Advent song, but I love it so much and this is a great version.)
- Winter Snow: Audrey Assad (Gives me chills.)
- The Christmas Song: Ella Fitzgerald (Another classic.)
- Heaven’s Gate: Dawn Landes (Not a familiar traditional Christmas song, but recommended to me this year and I LOVE IT.)
- O Holy Night: Josh Garrels (I don’t usually hear male vocalists sing this one, but I like it.)
- Winter Wonderland: She & Him (Love their Christmas albums!)
- It Snowed: Meaghan Smith (A rec from a friend. It’s not my usual style, but it’s so catchy and the girls have been singing it!)
- O Come All Ye Faithful: Marian Grace (Love this whole album.)
- Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas: Michael Buble (Couldn’t resist.)
- Silent Night: Sufjan Stevens (Is it possible to have a Christmas playlist without Sufjan? No. It is not.)
- All I Want for Christmas Is You: Mariah Carey (The BEST version.)
- O Little Town of Bethlehem: Sarah McLachlan (Lovely. Sarah McLachlan makes me think of dance warmups in middle school.)
- Just Like Christmas: Low (How did I not know about this album til this year?!)
- Deck the Hall: Nat King Cole (Another classic.)
- God Rest Yet Merry Gentlemen: Jars of Clay (MY FAVORITE BAND IN 6th GRADE! They were my CCM jam.)
- Don’t Shoot Me Santa: The Killers (Ok, so I am a huge Brandon Flowers fangirl. This one’s weird. Why is Santa trying to shoot Brandon Flowers? What’s happening? But I love it. My apologies.)
- Thankful Heart: The Muppet’s Christmas Carol (My kids are suddenly super into this movie and it’s one of my favorites. I get all sappy about this one. “Will be nephew and niece to me!” Sweet Scrooge.)
- We Wish You a Merry Christmas: Weezer (The Blue album FOREVER, right? Weezer was everything to me. This is a good last song.)
And if you need more, there’s my other Christmas playlist, the Wintry music playlist, and Advent playlists (1) and (2). Merry almost Christmas!
