The big news around these parts is that this handsome dude received his First Holy Communion last Saturday night.
It was one of the best days of my life and definitely a red letter day in parenthood. Since I’m a convert, it’s all new to me to go through this process with a child, but oh so special!
Seven has been a great age so far. Benjamin has always been a precocious little guy and been able to verbalize things way beyond what we expected for a child of his age, but all of the sudden our conversations have gone up a notch in the best way. Our personalities can really grate each other (we’re SO opposite in some ways and SO similar in others) but I’ve been feeling like we’re doing better at being a team, this little man and I. And guiding him through his preparation for these sacraments really brought us together in a sweet way.

I was so grateful for our parish community and for the many sweet friends that came to support Benjamin. We were surrounded by love. And it was such a joy to see him prepare so thoughtfully and intentionally to receive Our Lord. The sweetness of children must be such a delight to God.

The big moment! (I swear we practiced keeping those hands together! Oh well.)
Then we celebrated with great food in the parish hall. Pope Francis photo bombed us. He was really excited for Benjamin, too. (P.S. Little guy’s outfit compliments of his grandparents. They came to visit a couple of weeks ago and helped him pick it out. So sweet.)
3/4 of these cute farmies are wrapping up their time at the farm. We’re going to miss them so much!
Things continue to come together with buying the new house. Buying a house is stressful, but I still think SELLING is way worse. I’ll take buying a house any day.
And Daniel’s been doing lots of cooking over an open fire lately. It’s always delicious and he always looks handsome.

Oh Haley congratulations! Sweet Benjamin looks like a little saint in those pictures. Looking forward to the age of reason over here – got an interesting mommy /eldest dynamic that sounds very familiar to yours 🙂

Such a timely post. My own little man will be receiving our Lord in 6 weeks! It’s such a miracle that these little ones can accept Jesus so freely and without reservation. As an adult convert I struggled with the True Presence.
Thanks for this….filled me with so much excitement for the big day!
God bless you and your family.

So excited for you, Alisha!
