It’s strange to think that in just four days we will be arriving at the final destination of this crazy road trip: Waco, TX. This has been life-changing trip for our family. We’ve gotten so much closer and I’m grateful that we’ll have the memories of the past six weeks forever.
We spent all day yesterday at Zion and it was incredible! I think it may have been my favorite national park that we’ve visited so far.
This picture totally doesn’t do the beauty of the park justice. It was magnificent.
Our favorite thing was hiking through the Narrows! Benjamin thought that hiking through water was the coolest thing EVER. (And check out that photobomb from Gwen in the backpack.) I was so proud of Lucy for hiking four miles in the hot sun. Quite a feat for a three-year-old!
I’m glad Zion was so wonderful because we were super sad to leave L.A. Not so much because of the city but because of sweet friends we hated saying goodbye to. We spent four days at the home of our dear friends the Thompsons and it was just the refreshing recharge we needed for the last leg of our trip.
The kids become fast friends and we mostly just let them run around at the house while we chatted and did laundry. Camping laundry is so gross. Thanks for letting us do our gross laundry, Thompsons.
And Gwen met her match in the strong-willed department with her new friend Molly. So there was a tornado of toddler energy.
I also got to (FINALLY!) meet blogging friends Kendra, Blythe, and Micaela.
So that was a delightful treat. The occasion merited busting out the red lipstick for the first time in weeks!

1) Still insanely jealous that a whole bunch of my favorite Catholic bloggers were all in once place without me. And a little weirded out that I had a dream about it a few weeks back.
2) Zion is gorgeous- and hiking through water is The Best. We try to plan our vacations to allow a little water hiking action.
3) In my experience, camping laundry isn’t just gross, it also multiplies. I’ve found myself asking “How did that many clothes fit in the duffel bags? Where did all this laundry COME from?”
4) So excited to read about your NEXT adventure- starting a new chapter of life in your new home!

Thanks so much, Ally! I’m really excited, too 🙂 And yes to the crazy multiplication of the laundry! Ah!

There is nothing greater than a long visit with dear friends where the kids stay up to late and the parents even later! It’s like a family sleepover! Best of luck in Texas! I loved loved my four years of college in Dallas because Texans are just awesome. Ti have to to the Texas state fair as see the big hair contest! Amazing stuff.

I have really enjoyed your trip posts. It’s been neat to see some of America through your eyes. It’s definitely something I’d like to do with my kids, but I think we should travel our native Canada first!
I love the picture of you and all of my other fav. lady Catholic bloggers, I’m so happy you got to hang out together!
