Happy weekend! This is the little weekly wrap-up from Carrots complete with cute children, my favorite links from the interwebz, and much much more (ok, so that’s usually about it).
Lucy is causing me to rethink my taste in fashion after proudly exclaiming that she dressed up “like Mama!.” Scarf, baby, belt, turban. I guess that’s about right. And I hope you enjoy that action shot of Gwen doing what little sisters do best: destroying carefully crafted creations by big brother.
In the liturgical year:
Monthly feast day posts are back! Check out some great stuff for today’s feast of St. Francis of Assisi. And I absolutely loved seeing pictures of everyone’s Michaelmas feasts on Instagram! Yay! Here’s the roast chicken Daniel made:
Creamed kale to the left, whiskey-glazed carrots to the right. We invited some friends over and finished the night off with homemade blackberry ice cream. Yum.
The Quotable Gwen:
Lucy: “Gwen, do you love me?”
Gwen: “YESH!”
These girls. I tell ya.
Gwen is such a happy little firecracker. She scales everything these days. And moves chairs to climb up to whatever her heart desires. Which means constant supervision from mama. Which means things are a little crazy. But this girl….is FUN. And she loves hugging her siblings. And she sleeps all night long. It’s so dreamy.
The Quotable Benjamin:
On making it all the way across the monkey bars unassisted: “I conquered my fear and thought I can do this and then I DID IT!”
I’m sorry but this photo is just too funny to me. SMIRKIEST of smirks. Five-year-olds are awesomely hilarious.

Oh! And there’s still time to fill out the reader survey so you can tell me what you do and don’t like about Carrots so I can make it better!
It actually feels like Fall outside today! Like, windows open kinda weather.
Windows open and beeswax candles kinda weather. Ah. We’re going to take a short trip up the road to S. Georgia this evening to grab dinner in our favorite little nearby town. Shrimp and Grits. Followed by hot cocoa in the cutest little coffee shop you’ve ever seen. It’s kind of a yearly tradition when the weather becomes bearable. The kids love it. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Can you tell me about Benjamin’s backhoe? Brand or where to buy for my truck loving 2 year old? Thanks!
Haley says
EmilyRose, I think it’s Tonka brand. My brother got it for Benjamin’s second birthday and it was and is a huge hit (almost 4 years later). And has survived years being left out in the rain so….good purchase, haha. I just looked for it on Amazon and can’t find it but I’m not sure what it was called!

How fantastic to learn that you are a Gilmore girls fan 🙂 I am excited to have that show on Netflix now as I get used to being home and couch-bound more than usual in the next few months!

The later seasons get pretty bad, but the beginning is so fun. I think it’s time for a rewatch. And yes! You’ll definitely enjoy having something fun to watch with your little one in the wee small hours of the morning 😉

Yes, I don’t think anyone was a fan of Rory and Dean after he was married (!!) and I knew a lot of people who quit it based on Rory and Lorelei not talking. Their cool relationship was the whole reason people liked the show and without it , well…not so fun.
