Whew. It’s been awhile since the last TWM, y’all. Let’s jump in.
Just FYI, that’s a necklace I’m wearing. Not suspenders. I am definitely not cool enough to pull off sparkly suspenders.
The Quotable Lucy (almost 3yo):
“One day God made a ballerina. And her name was Lucy.”
This girl loves her ballet class. As a former ballet teacher, I promised myself I would not get all crazy and make my daughters dance. But she’s been asking about ballet classes for months and I finally gave in now that she’s almost three. She LOVES it. LOVES IT. And it makes my heart sing.
While watching Night at the Museum: “Hey! That man is S’POSED to be a daddy but where is his BEARD? Das hilarious.” Definitely something Bearman’s daughter would say.
“Don’t bother me, because I have three babies in my tummy that are ’bout to come out.” Noted.
The Quotable Benjamin (5 years):
“We’re just having a barrel of fun playing buckin’ bronco! Lucy climbs on my back and I push her off.” If you’re wondering, the fun lasted approximately 10 seconds before everyone was crying. But then Lucy insisted she was just a “widdle hurt” and wanted to play Benjamin Bronco again.
Big brother is both disgusted by the idea of ballet and irritated that Lucy is going to a special class and he’s not. Don’t worry, he had his chance. I offered him gymnastics, sports, and whatnot and he says, no, thank you, not interested. To frozen yogurt, however, he said YES.
And he thought being a blacksmith’s apprentice for the day at the living history site was a pretty sweet gig. Homeschooling win.
But he did NOT want to pose in front of the huge reconstruction of the Apalachee Indian council house. Fair enough. Lucy did the honors.
The Quotable Gwen (15 months):
Where’s Gwen, you ask? Just tearing out whatever attempts I made at getting her cave woman hair out of her face and exploring the art supplies.
“Paper?! Paper?! WOW!”
She is a force to be reckoned with.
Coming Up in the Liturgical Year:
MICHAELMAS, y’all. Michaelmas is coming. And Bonnie even interviewed me about what the heck it is, how to pronounce it, and how to celebrate. So check it out!

Prayers:
Can I beg some prayers from you, sweet readers? The past week and a half….it’s been hard. A dear friend’s four-month-old son passed away very unexpectedly last Wednesday. The funeral was the most difficult funeral I’ve ever attended. It’s just heartbreaking. And unthinkable. Would you please pray for the precious soul of Baby Gordon and for his grieving family? Lucy told me that Mary takes care of all the babies in heaven. I know she’s right. But sweet Baby Gordon’s family misses him deeply. Thank you for your prayers, from the bottom of my heart.
Sponsors:
Be sure to give some love to this month’s sponsors! They keep the lights on around here.
Lots of love,
Haley

lol I’d want to be left alone if I had three babies in my tummy too.
Also, praying for that family. That’s absolutely heart breaking to even comprehend how hard that would be.
Haley says
Thanks for your prayers, Rachel!

Love the vlog post you did with Bonnie. Since she was 3 years old, my daughter has thought that St. Michael is her personal guardian angel, so she has helped us develop a particular affinity for him. Thanks for sharing lots of great suggestions for celebrating his feast day.
Haley says
Aw! Love that. I had so much fun chatting with Bonnie. She’s the best!

Oh I’m so sad for that family! They’re in my prayers.
Gwen’s got quite the mischievous glint in those sweet little eyes! And her hair!!
I remember ballet when I was three. It was magical. And Lucy’s so funny- daddies without beards! I was once (okay, thrice!) asked if Zeke is my dad by little campers who see us together… must be the beard.
Have a great weekend!
Haley says
She is QUITE the mischievous one!

I will pray for baby Gordon’s family Haley. Would you please pray for mine? My cousin’s son Nicholas died in his sleep last night. He was severely disabled but this was otherwise unexpected. I am so glad that we have prayer. Because otherwise I don’t know what I would do.
Haley says
Oh how awful, Anna. I will pray.
Elise says
Love that your Lucy loves ballet!
Looking forward to Michaelmas on Monday – loved your interview over at Bonnie’s.
I will say a prayer for your friends, Haley. How heartbreaking.
Beth (A Mom's Life) says
If anyone can pull off sparkly suspenders, it’s you! I’ll be praying for Baby Gordon’s family.

Just watched your interview with Bonnie. Oh my gosh, I thought your last name was Carrots this entire time! Guess I thought your blog meant like, “the Carrot family is pro Michaelmas” and then on IG you are Haley Carrots….and I just thought that was your name! Oopsie! I’m asking for your book for Christmas (:
Haley says
Haha! Haley Stewart is always taken on social media, so I’m Haley Carrots most places 😉

praying for that family! my son was born when I was 27 weeks pregnant and we didn’t know if he’d make it for months. Every day that went by was both great and heartbreaking because I loved him more and more every day and I couldn’t bear him being taken from me.
