Coming Up in the Liturgical Year: The Feast of Corpus Christi! Read a meditation on this solemnity by Cardinal Dolan. As always, I’m interested in your suggestions for creating family traditions around the liturgical seasons as we learn to observe the Christian Year. So keep ’em comin’!
Watching: The amazing Brideshead Revisited miniseries starring Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews. It’s streaming on Netflix now and my life is complete. But please, I beg you, do not confuse this cinematic masterpiece with the surprisingly dreadful recent film starring Emma Thompson. It is the worse thing I have ever seen. Truly. Worse than Anne, the Continuing Story (now you know I mean business.) If you’ve never read the novel, Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, please remedy that dire situation immediately. It’s my favorite novel. Ever. Just sayin’.
In the Garden: Green Cushaw Pumpkins! Winter squash is my fave.
The Quotable Benjamin:
“Give me all the cherries we’ve got.”
(Benjamin is to cherries as Ron Swanson is to bacon and eggs.)
“What band is this?”
“It’s U2, Benjamin.”
“Huh? YouTube?”
Benjamin’s additions to our family summer bucket list: “Go to the beach, Watch Star Wars, Have another baby (a boy this time).”
Pictures Worth Sharing:
Already shared this one on FB, but it’s just too cute…
First time putting them both in the cart!
I can’t believe she’s big enough to sit in big brother’s high chair. It’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture in our house.
“Cup cake girl meets book boy.” My favorite bookstore located 40 minutes north of my town is opening up a location 5 minutes from my house in the same space as my favorite local cupcakery. And they have gluten-free cupcakes on Thursdays. Perfection.
My favorite guy and my favorite coffee place.
I’ve got some exciting news to tell you next week! (No, I’m not pregnant…at least…I don’t think so….hmm. Anyhow, that’s not the news!)
Have a wonderful weekend! Do you have any exciting (or tranquil) weekend plans?

That last “Anne” movie is tragic, tragic I say!!! Glad you agree.

Just the thought of it makes me infuriated. Ugh! Why, Megan Follows, why?!

I share you’re love of wooden high chairs – it’s all too cute. Sounds like you’ve got quite a lot of work to do on that bucket list ;D
Haley says
I know! I better get to work, haha.
Molly Makes Do says
gah! I swear I know the difference between “your” and “you’re” – in my defense I had a kiddo with a sudden urge to read a Thomas book crawling up my leg!

I am physically compelled to comment on any blog post mentioning the Brideshead mini-series. Its perfection! I want to stop everything and go watch all 8 hours of it right now!
And I love that your boy sounds like Ron Swanson-I love Ron Swanson.
Haley says
It is SOOO GOOD. Last time I watched it I was pregnant with Benjamin and oh so very ill. I had terrible morning sickness and all I could do was watch Brideshead and whine from the couch about how dreadful I felt. Then I would suddenly demand a frozen popsicle to ward off the inevitable vomiting and Daniel, dear man that he is, would have to pause it and run to the freezer for one while I yelled, “HURRY! I feel like I’m dyyyyyying!” I’m sure I was super endearing. We’ll start episode 4 after the kids go to bed.
Christy says
Aww! Well at least you’ve got great marriage memories to go with each re-watching! I love when each time you watch a fav movie you remember things from previous viewings!
