Hundreds of tiny ballerinas, missing costume accessories, someone’s stage make-up smeared across the back of my white shirt (from the evidence, someone very short used my blouse to blot their bright red lipstick) late nights at the theatre…that’s been my week of dance teacher madness (AKA theatre week for our spring ballet). But we’re on the home stretch! The performances are Saturday and my sweet little ones did great during the dress rehearsals (even, surprisingly, my class of wild and crazy five-year-olds and my giant class of 14 three-year-olds). So, that’s why it’s been quiet around here.
Watching: The trailer for the 2012 film version of the musical Les Miserables. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this for two decades…oh wait, I HAVE.
I love the choice of Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean. Great musical theatre actor, great voice. Having never heard Russell Crowe sing, I’m a little tentative about his portrayal of Javert but at least his acting will be good right? And I LOVE Eddie Redmayne who plays Marius. Even the original Valjean, Colm Wilkinson, is in the film as the Bishop of Digne. I have some qualms about Anne Hathaway as Fantine…just not a huge fan of hers but maybe that’s because every time we watch one of her movies Daniel complains about her “weird face” through out the entire film. And Amanda Seyfried as Cosette? She will always be Lily Kane to me (RIP Veronica Mars) but at least she can sing. What do you think of the casting?

The Quotable Benjamin:
“Watch me take a nap in my ‘Parmesan chair.'”
“Are you the only mama that doesn’t like watermelon?!” (Yes, it’s true, it’s inexplicable, it’s unfortunate. I hate watermelon.)
“Why do you think bacon tastes soooooo good?”
On Wednesday, Daniel pretended that our house was a restaurant and Benjamin was a patron. He thought it was grand and kept saying, “This food is really good! Everything is going great, thanks.” and “Wow, you’re bathroom is very clean!” (not true).

She is pulling up to standing all by herself! Where did my baby go!?
Also of note, last night she branched out from her practice of nursing 5 times a night and actually slept all night in her crib needing to eat only once! Hurrah! So glad that we’re just taking her lead on the sleeping front and not pushing her. It’s been way less stressful.

You can tell Benjamin that you are not the only mama who doesn’t like watermelon 🙂 I happen to dislike it as well (and everyone looks at me like I”m crazy)

I’m so glad, haha. I seriously feel like the only person in the universe that doesn’t like it. And you can only imagine how often the topic comes up during summertime in Florida…

Veronica Mars forever! She WILL always be Lily Kane won’t she?
I’m so excited for Les Mis-also very concerned about Anne Hathaway, yuck!
Ok, so way to go on the road to sainthood in nursing 5 times a night for this long! I can’t believe I can’t even last 5 months…

Oh, VMars. How I love thee. But I couldn’t ever figure out Lily’s character. She seemed dreadful but everyone was always talking about how great she was. Anyhow, to be fair, Lucy was a champion sleeper until she was 3 months old (that’s when the waking every 1-2 hours started). And I’ve gone from feeling like I was losing my mind to somehow managing to adjust. Last night, for instance, she woke up at 11pm, 3am, and 4:15am. Not terrible, but not splendid either. But 3 times is better than 5 times, amirite?!
